This morning I decided our marketing site needed analytics. By lunch, we had a full GA4 implementation with custom event tracking, behavioral analytics, and conversion funnels — all set up through a conversation with our AI agent in Slack. No developer sprint. No agency SOW. No three-week implementation timeline.
This is what AI-powered operations actually looks like when it's working.
Setting up analytics on a marketing site used to follow a predictable script. You'd talk to your marketing team or agency about what to track. They'd scope the work. A developer would implement Google Tag Manager, configure triggers and variables through the GTM UI, and wire up a handful of standard events. Then QA. Then deploy. If you wanted custom behavioral tracking — scroll depth, form abandonment, engagement scoring — that was a separate conversation, a separate scope, and usually a separate invoice.
For a services company like ours, this process could easily take two to four weeks from request to live data. And by the time it was done, you'd already moved on to the next priority and forgotten half of what you wanted to learn.
Here's roughly how it went. I messaged our Alpha Agent agent and said I wanted to set up Google Analytics on the Last Rev site. I mentioned we had an existing GTM container. The agent immediately asked a sharp question: does GTM slow things down for custom events versus going direct with gtag?

Within minutes, the base implementation was live on a dev branch with automatic page views, CTA tracking, navigation clicks, outbound link detection, and scroll depth — all wired through our shared component library so every page got tracking for free.
The base setup was table stakes. What happened next is where having an AI agent changes the game.
I asked what else we could track. The agent came back with ideas I hadn't considered — not generic "best practices" but things specifically tailored to our site architecture and business model. We went back and forth brainstorming, and within that same conversation, every idea we agreed on was implemented, tested, and pushed to the dev branch.
The whole thing — from "I want analytics" to a comprehensive behavioral tracking system — took about an hour of elapsed time. Maybe fifteen minutes of my actual attention, spread across a few Slack messages while I worked on other things.
It's not that the technical implementation was particularly complex. Any competent developer could build what we built. The difference is in the operational model:

The tracking setup wasn't the end goal. It was laying the foundation for continuous, AI-driven insight into how our site actually performs.
That's the real unlock: not just doing things faster, but building systems where the AI can observe, learn, and improve autonomously. Analytics was step one.
